Turin tour – In the footsteps of Don Bosco
4 days / 3 nights
Arrival at the hotel in the centre of Turin and settling into the rooms. After meeting with the guide, transfer by coach to the Precettoria di Sant’Antonio. Here we will begin our tour to discover religious and other places that have characterised Piedmontese history over the centuries. The Preceptory is the ancient hospital of the Order of Saint Anthony of Vienne. In this complex, pilgrims suffering from the famous “St Anthony’s fire” were treated.
We will then move by coach to the Sacra di San Michele, a very ancient abbey on the top of Mount Pirchiriano. Recognised as a symbolic monument of the Piedmont region, it is also the place that inspired the writer Umberto Eco for his best-selling novel The Name of the Rose. Members of the royal family of the House of Savoy are buried inside the main church of the Sacra, which dates back to the 12th century.

After the meal, we will delve into the life of Don Giovanni Bosco by visiting first the Basilica of Mary Help of Christians and then his House Museum, built right next door and where the Saint began his work of assistance towards the less fortunate young people, founding the Salesians.
